Our Juror: Susan Daboll
Susan Daboll is an American artist living between Paros, Greece and Jersey City, NJ.
She graduated from Syracuse University with a BFA in Printmaking and Experimental Studios, and got a Masters degree in Photography from New York University in conjunction with the International Center of Photography. Upon graduating she was asked to teach photography at New York University's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development and continued for more than a decade. She was also a master black-and-white printer and had her own photo lab printing for herself and others. With the advent of Photoshop and digital photography, she changed her practice from film to digital, and slowly started painting as a way to have a more tactile creative experience. She now exhibits both painting and photography and has participated in many exhibitions both in the US and Greece. Her work was most recently acquired by the Portland Museum of Art in Portland, Maine, but is also included in the collections of the Brooklyn Museum, Chicago Art Institute, and Pfizer, among others. She is currently planning a solo exhibition at the Hellenic American Union in Athens, Greece for 2022. Grappling with the death of her husband, it will feature photography, books and an installation of urns and artifacts called "Aftermath: Ashes and Artifacts". |
