Ukrainian Egg Decorating with Jenny Santa Maria
Saturday, March 28 11am-1:30pm OR Wednesday, April 1 from 4:30-7pm OR Saturday, 4/4 from 9:30am-12.
Ukrainian eggs or ‘Pysanky’ are decorated using beeswax and dyes that are applied in layers. Students will learn new techniques, designs, and historical significance of this process and go home with a beautiful egg. No experience is necessary and ages 12 through adult are welcome to register. Participants will be provided with eggs and decorating materials. Please bring an apron or old shirt and an egg carton to bring your project home in.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Jenny resides in Brick, NJ. She is most known for her embroidery, paintings and designs on eggs. Her artistic process is often governed by the inherent societal meanings of the media which she chooses to explore. Her bold, saturated colors are reminiscent of Expressionist and German Expressionist painters. Other influences include Egon Schiele, Matisse, Kiki Smith and Jenny Saville. Jenny currently teaches drawing at Brookdale Community College and figure drawing at the Collective Art Tank in Asbury Park.
