Live Music @ BelmarArts Performance Schedule
Belmar Arts Center is the site  of some exciting performing arts! A very popular live music program started here in 2013 by former coordinator and Trustee, Chris Krebs and now facilitated by local musician, Jon Falk. Indoor live music shows are held on our small stage and have a coffee-house atmosphere with seating for about 40. Local musicians and singers are delighting the BelmarArts audiences with their acoustic performances several times each month. At times improv performers, storytellers or writers take over the spotlight! Do you have an idea for a performance – maybe a small theatrical piece or a dance presentation – let us know!

More about our music program:
December 2015: BELMAR— Belmar Arts was nominated for two Asbury [Park] Music Awards, and though the arts council did not win, this was the first time Belmar Arts has received this nomination.Belmar Arts was nominated for “Top Live Original [small] Music Venue” and for “Best Thing to Happen 2014/2015.”

According to the “best thing to happen” nomination, Belmar Arts Council was recognized for its development into a thriving grassroots music scene in Belmar curated by former live music coordinator and Belmar Arts trustee, Chris Krebs.

“I consider these nominations very prestigious because these awards have been running for a long time and not many cities have local awards like this,” Mr. Krebs said. “And being nominated was really just a nice way to say goodbye to Belmar Arts.”

The Asbury Music Awards premiered in 1993, and was created to recognize local Jersey Shore original artists. Over the years, it has continued to grow into an awards program that represents original music throughout the state of New Jersey.

According to the Asbury Music Awards website, the awards program has grown to recognize not only original artists in Asbury Park, but local New Jersey singers-songwriters, “musicians, artists, painters, promoters, sound technicians, lighting directors, writers, photo-journalists, venue owners, and more, from live original music, the arts and pop culture, to behind the scenes heroes.”

Over 300 original artists have performed at Belmar Arts, according to Mr. Krebs, and in his 100-plus shows, both the artists and audience leave the arts council having had a genuine music listening experience.

Original artists/bands including Thomas Wesley Stern, Accidental Seabirds and Bone and Marrow, who have performed at Belmar Arts, were nominated and selected as winners for various Asbury Music Awards.

Additionally, Belmar Arts has created really big moments for the artists themselves who come to perform there. Many of whom have never played live on stage for an audience, and many who have received press and special recordings all of which are posted on the Live at Belmar Arts’ YouTube channel.

“There’s always different art there, different performers, I feel like it’s a real listening room,” Mr. Krebs said. “Belmar Arts built a brand there and I’m very proud of that, and that’s what I think finally caught the attention of the music awards.”I call it the coolest and most beautiful listening room on the Jersey Shore.”
