Masquerade Entry Rules

Artists with work not accepted for the Masquerade Art Show will be notified by telephone.  If you do not receive a telephone call you can assume that your work has been accepted.  We look forward to seeing you at the opening reception on Saturday, October 5 from 5 to 7 pm.

Online Registration is now closed.

Receiving of work:      Friday, September 27 from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday, September 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Jurying notification:    Beginning Wednesday October 2, accepted entries will be listed on the web site, www.belmararts.org, or call 732-749-3360.

Pick-up of work not accepted for the show:  Wednesday, October 2, 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, October 3, 10 a.m. to Noon

Opening Reception:    Saturday, October 5, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m.  Music by “Murph & Marie.”

Exhibition Dates:  Wednesday to Saturday; Saturday, October 5 until Friday, November 8, from 1 – 5 p.m.

Final Pick-up of work:    Friday, November 8 from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday, November 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

THEME:  Masquerade is a Mixed Media Exhibition celebrating the unique art of the mask: Ritual and Ceremonial, Renaissance, Eskimo, Mardi Gras, Samhain/Halloween, Dia de Los Muertos.  The mask is the theme.

 Jurors:  Jurors will be Vincent Nardone, President of Audubon Artists, and Jose Gonzalez, Adjunct Art Teacher at Georgian Court College.

 Awards:   $100.00 cash prize for Best in Show;  Awards for best in each media category.

Entry form and fees:

Entry fee is non-refundable.

$10 per piece (BelmarArts member – maximum 2 pieces)

$15 per piece (Non-members – maximum 2 pieces)

Online Registration and Payment: In order to streamline the submission process, you will be able to pre-register by filling out your entry form (see above – Online Registration) and submitting it online. At that point you will be asked to pay your entry fee.

You can also fill out your entry form and pay your entry fee in person using a BelmarArts computer at the time you deliver your artwork.

 Eligible work:

The BelmarArts Masquerade Show is open to artists in all media, age 17 and over.  Please note that based upon artists’ demand, the definition of media is expanded to include the Language Arts as well as the Visual Arts.  All art work must be suitable for display.

All works entered must be original creations by the artist, not previously exhibited at the BelmarArts.

Enter a maximum of two pieces.  Acceptance into show is not guaranteed.

Art work not relating to the theme will not be accepted.

Conditions and artist instructions:

  • Two-dimensional pieces must be wired and ready for hanging.
  • Maximum size for two-dimensional work is 48” in any direction.
  • Framed two-dimensional pieces over 36 inches in any direction normally displayed under glass must have Plexiglas instead of glass.
  • 25 lb. maximum weight for work intended to be hung on the walls.
  • A sculpture is limited to a weight of 60 pounds or less.  A pedestal must be provided by the artist.

WORK THAT IS NOT APPROPRIATELY WIRED OR IS OUTSIDE THE SIZE LIMITS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Commission:

Art sold is subject to a 25% commission fee. If not for sale, put NFS clearly on form and label.

Liability disclaimer:

The BelmarArts will make every effort to treat your artwork with care. However, work is submitted at the artist’s risk. BelmarArts and the Art Show Committee will not be held liable for lost or damaged work. Artists are responsible for insuring their work from delivery to pick-up. Payment of sales tax is the responsibility of the artist.

Media/Press release:

BelmarArts reserves the right to use digital images of accepted and exhibited artworks for the sole purpose of media and website PR and advertising for the Masquerade Art Show. Digital images will be those photos taken by BelmarArts staff and press photographers.

Late Pick-up Penalty:

Work must be picked up the day and time advertised. A $1/day fee will be charged per piece left after the time of pickup. If you cannot pick up your work during the advertised time, you must arrange for a friend to pick it up.

Work left beyond two weeks after the advertised pick-up date will be considered abandoned. Abandoned work will become the property of the Belmar Arts Council and will be sold at auction to benefit the BelmarArts.
