Belmar and The Railroad

People’s Choice Ribbons will be awarded.

 

Eligible work: The Belmar and the Railroad Show has been envisioned as a tribute to rail travel in and around Belmar and nearby Shore towns. This exhibit is a part of larger celebration by BelmarArts and the Belmar Historical Society as we unveil the new Belmar Train Station Mural on Saturday, April 26 at 4pm. The show is open to both youth and adult artists in all media. This show is not juried.

All works exhibited must be original creations by the artist, not previously exhibited at BelmarArts and railroad themed (does not have to be Belmar specifically but the Shore area is preferred). A maximum of two pieces per artist may be submitted. Inclusion in the Belmar and the Railroad show is subject to the discretion of the show committee.

Entry fees:
$10 per entry BelmarArts member – maximum of 2 entries
$15 per entry Non-BelmarArts member – maximum of 2 entries
Non-refundable entry fee is payable online by credit card or PayPal account to BelmarArts at the time of registration.

Digital Image Specifications:

Image files should be at 100 dpi at roughly 7” on the longest dimension, with a total file size of no larger than 1 MB.  All artists must submit a digital image of their work to verify that the Railroad theme is being met only as this show IS NOT JURIED. Please prepare your work for drop off on April 12 unless we notify you that your image does not meet the criteria of the show committee.

Conditions and artist instructions:

  •    Two-dimensional pieces must be wired and ready for hanging. Cut outs, hooks or other modifications will not work with our   hanging system in the gallery, no exceptions!
  •    Maximum size for two-dimensional work is 48” in any direction.
  •    Framed two-dimensional pieces over 36 inches in any direction normally displayed under glass must have Plexiglas instead of glass.
  •    25 lb. maximum weight for work intended to be hung on the walls.
  •    Three-dimensional work is limited to 60 lb. For free-standing work, pedestals must be provided by the artist.
  •    Artwork may not be substituted from the submitted image(s).
  •    All artwork must remain installed for the duration of the show.
  •    Work must be hand-delivered to the BelmarArts. BelmarArts is not equipped to receive or return parcels sent by mail or delivery service.

BELMARARTS RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REJECT ANY WORK THAT IS NOT WIRED OR OTHERWISE DISPLAY READY,
IS NOT RAILROAD THEMED OR IS OUTSIDE THE SIZE AND WEIGHT SPECIFICATIONS LISTED ABOVE.

Commission
Art sold is subject to a 30% commission fee. If not for sale, put NFS clearly on form and label.  Sales tax will be added to the price of work sold.  Remittance of NJ Sales Tax will be handled by BelmarArts. All artists with sales commissions of $600 or more per calendar year are required to furnish their SS# or Tax Id# to BelmarArts. A 1099 for taxable income will be issued by BelmarArts for sales commissions of $600 or higher.

Liability disclaimer
BelmarArts will make every effort to treat your artwork with care. However, work is submitted at the artist’s risk. BelmarArts and the Art Show Committee will not be held liable for lost or damaged work. Artists are responsible for insuring their work from delivery to pick-up.

Media/Press release
BelmarArts reserves the right to use digital images of accepted and exhibited artworks for the sole purpose of media and website PR and advertising for the exhibition.

Late Pick-up Penalty
Work must be picked up on the day and time advertised. A $1/day fee will be charged per piece left after the time of pickup. If you cannot pick up your work during the advertised time, you must arrange for a friend to pick it up. Work left beyond two weeks after the advertised pick-up date will be considered abandoned. Abandoned work will become the property of the BelmarArts and will be sold at auction to benefit the BelmarArts.
