You can be involved with Belmar Arts Council in many ways. One great way is to attend meetings. There are three types of meetings: member, committee and board. All are open to observation by non-members.

Members' Meetings are on the 1st Thursday* of the month and typically held from 7:30 to 9:30 at Boatworks 608 River Road, Belmar. These events have a period in which we are updated from the various working groups followed by informal networking and art sharing.

Committees meet to further the work of BAC. These include: Program, Communications, Finance and various event specific groups.

Program Committee - Organizes the general BAC schedule of events. Assures that programs are within BAC's mandate and that event committees are working within the guidelines.

Communications Committee - Oversee the BAC "message," by assisting event organizers as they are developing PR materials.

Finance Committee - Oversee the annual budget of BAC. Review budgets of proposed programs. Develop opportune for BAC to raise fund through merchandise. Write grant proposals and follow-up reports.

Event Specific Committees - An informal group may prosoe a progam, they are responsible for drafting a narative & a budget. Once a program is agreed on by the process & powers that be the event specific group takes on responsiblity for the execution of the event.

Board - Members of the board of trustees meet to evaluate proposals, vote on policy, financial and programming issues, and assure that the activities of the BAC are consistent with the organization’s mission statement. The Trustees of BAC meet once a month. Trustees are also expect to be on at least of above mentioned committees. Current board members are:

Joe Villa, Jennifer DeLorenzo, Tom Brennan, Pat Hutchinson, Ron Anderson, Merry Brennan, Jack Leonard, Tim McCorry, Rochelle Ritacco, Frank Sementa, Krista Sperber-Held, Sandy Taylor and Tom Volker.

We are actively seeking additional trustees. If you are interested please consider these requirements:

An ideal trustee…
1. Is familiar with and committed to BAC’s mission,
2. Is able to attend monthly Board and committee meetings on a regular basis,
3. Possesses technical skills as needed,
4. Is responsive to organization’s requests for assistance,
5. Is willing and able to outreach, recruit, advocate and educate on behalf of BAC,
6. Is willing and able to commit time, energy, and influence to ensure that BAC meet it’s mission,
7. Is willing to take responsibility for chairing one of the BAC’s scheduled events or activities per year,
8. Follows through on assigned responsibilities, responds to communications in a timely fashion, notifies chair if unable to attend a meeting or meet an obligation.
