Spirits in the Spotlight: A Ghostly Art Affair

Theme and Description

Calling all artists to explore the ethereal realms of ghosts in our collective consciousness. We invite you to explore the mysteries of the past, present, and future through your creative endeavors. From spectral beings to lingering memories, from haunted landscapes to the phantoms of tomorrow, we seek your interpretations of ghosts in all their forms. 
Artists are encouraged to submit works that explore the theme of ghosts across various mediums, including but not limited to: 

• Paintings and Drawings: Capture the eerie beauty of ghosts through traditional or digital artwork. Whether it's a haunted house, a spectral figure, or a ghostly apparition, let your imagination roam free. 

• Photography: Explore the shadows of the past and present through haunting photography. Whether it's abandoned places, misty landscapes, or fleeting moments captured in time. Show us the ghosts that linger in our world. 

• Sculpture and Installation: Bring ghosts to life in three dimensions. Create sculptures or installations that evoke the presence of the supernatural, inviting viewers to confront the unseen forces that surround us. 

• Mixed Media and Altered Photos: Experiment with mixed media techniques or alter photographs to convey the elusive nature of ghosts. Merge reality with the supernatural, blurring the lines between the tangible and the intangible. 

Whether your ghosts are whispers from the past, echoes of the present, or visions of the future, we welcome submissions that challenge perceptions, provoke thought, and inspire wonder. Let your creativity transcend boundaries as you explore the spectral realms that lie beyond our understanding. 

Join us as we embark on a journey into the supernatural and uncover the hidden truths that lie beyond the veil of reality.

BAC can display your QR code when exhibiting your art in our gallery. Connect with your audience, raise your profile, improve the customer experience and increase engagement by adding QR codes to all your collateral and campaigns. It's a quick and easy way to get people to your website, social media accounts, and other online resources.
There are many FREE apps and software on line to generate a QR code.  Below is a link to ONLY ONE EXAMPLE but there are many programs that accomplish the same goal.

Conditions:

• Open to: artists  of all ages
  
• A maximum of 3 works  may be submitted.
• Medium: Artists are invited to submit artwork in various mediums, including painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, digital art, written word and more. 
  

How to name your image files:
Name your image files properly before you add them to the entry form:

• Yourfirstname Yourlastname Title.jpeg
  
• Do not add any other information to your image name.​ PLEASE name your image the way we ask. It helps us keep track of entries, create wall labels, and create our online slide shows.

To Enter:

• Fill out the entry form below and attach your images or wording to it.
  

Entry Fees:

• BAC members: $25 for first entry, $10 each additional entry
• NON members: $35 for first entry, $10 each additional entry
• Membership may be purchased or renewed at checkout.  All show entry fees are non-refundable and payment must be received before your entry is processed.

Delivering Works:

• Your work must be hand-delivered to the BAC, 608 River Rd, Belmar, NJ 07719 on the Drop Off Dates. The BAC is not equipped to receive or return parcels sent by mail or delivery service.
• Your art work should be wired for hanging and the framing (if used) should be secure (not wobbly, not ready to fall apart, not likely to disassemble if someone looks at it crossly).
• A 25 lb. maximum weight for work intended to be hung on the walls including hardware and/or armature.
• Three-dimensional work can be freestanding or displayed on a pedestal.  You do not need to provide a pedestal unless a special size is needed.  All three-dimensional work must be able to be lifted by one person.
• Contact us if you have special media needs (video, audio, electrical power, etc).

Sales and Commission:
Art sold is subject to a 25% commission fee for members and 40% for non-members.  Sales tax will be added to the price of work sold.  Remittance of NJ Sales Tax will be handled by BAC.  All artists with sales commissions of $600 or more per calendar year are required to furnish their SS# or Tax ID# to Belmar Arts.  A 1099-MISC for taxable income will be issued by Belmar Arts for sales commissions of $600 or higher.  Commissions are paid at the close of the show.

Liability disclaimer:
BAC will make every effort to treat your artwork with care.  However, work is submitted at the artist’s risk.  BAC and the exhibit directors, curators, installers, or gallery sitters will not be held liable for lost or damaged work.  Artists are responsible for insuring their work from delivery to pick-up.

Media/Press Release:
BAC reserves the right to use digital images of exhibited artworks for the purpose of promotion of this exhibit and BAC on social media, websites, and advertising.

Late Pick-up Penalty: If you cannot pick up your work during the advertised time, you must arrange for someone else to pick it up.  Work left beyond two weeks after the advertised pick-up date will be considered abandoned.  Abandoned work will become the property of the BAC and will be sold to benefit the BAC.
