Theme and Description
Abstraction challenges the way we see, feel, and interpret the world. Since the early 20th century, abstract art has challenged, inspired, and redefined the boundaries of artistic expression. From Picasso’s revolutionary Cubism, the bold geometry of Kazimir Malevich, the emotive color fields of Mark Rothko, and the dynamic action painting of Jackson Pollock, to the lyrical movements of Wassily Kandinsky and the organic forms of Joan Miró, abstraction has become a language of its own reshaping reality and inviting us to experience the unseen.
"Beyond the Obvious" invites artists to push the limits of form, color, and composition—creating works that evoke emotion, energy, and imagination beyond representational reality.
We welcome submissions in all abstract styles in any medium, including:
Cubism & Deconstruction – Fragmented perspectives, multiple viewpoints, and structured compositions inspired by Picasso and Braque.
Geometric Abstraction – Crisp lines, structured forms, and mathematical precision reminiscent of Mondrian or Albers.
Gestural & Action Painting – Expressive strokes, spontaneous marks, and movement-driven compositions inspired by Pollock or de Kooning.
Color Field & Minimalist Abstraction – Large swaths of color, subtle gradients, and meditative simplicity akin to Rothko or Reinhardt.
Organic & Biomorphic Abstraction – Fluid, dreamlike, and surreal shapes recalling the works of Miró or Arp.
Textural & Mixed Media Abstraction – Layered surfaces, unconventional materials, and tactile depth, echoing Rauschenberg and Burri.
Whether through bold chaos or quiet harmony, we invite you to explore pure artistic expression—where feeling, movement, and imagination take form beyond the visible.
Join us in celebrating abstraction in all its forms—because sometimes, the most powerful art is the one that speaks without words.
