About Jennifer Kirsch
Jennifer Kirsch is a certified Art Clay Instructor and local Belmar artist specializing in sea glass. With a passion for running and beach combing, sea glass history, art, and animals, she established her venture, Atlantic Sea Glass Design, over five years ago. Initially crafting sea glass that she found on her beach runs into pendants using fine silver wire, she sold them to support horse and dog rescue charities. This venture expanded to exhibitions, festivals, and a deep expertise in sea glass. Discovering Precious Metal Clay, which is composed of recycled 99.9% pure silver particles, water, and a safe plant cellulose binder, opened new creative avenues. The malleability of the wet clay allows for diverse shapes, textures, and molds, enabling unlimited artistic possibilities that are difficult to achieve with traditional metal smithing techniques. Polishing occurs by hand in the dry clay stage before kiln firing at 1200 to 1650 degrees which initiates binder elimination and sintering resulting in hard metal pieces. The pieces will be fired in her home kiln, brushed, tumbled or further polished and work hardened with an agate burnisher and then returned to the studio within a week of the class. No experience necessary as Jennifer gears her classes to work with all levels of experience from beginner to intermediate, encouraging a fun and friendly environment that cultivates creativity and enhances the artist within everyone.
