Learn how to create a beautiful fine silver
(999) pendant with a bail utilizing fundamental precious metal clay techniques. You will be using 12.5 grams of Art Clay Silver, shape cutters, texture tiles and drilled sea glass to design and create your own unique pieces. Verbal instructions will be given on drilling sea glass but pre-drilled sea glass will be provided. This class is perfect for both beginners and intermediate level. No experience is necessary. All supplies provided for class use and sterling jump rings and adjustable 16,18, 20 inch sterling silver (925) chain provided.
Pieces will be fired in Instructor’s home kiln and returned for pick up within 3-5 business days.
Jennifer Kirsch is the one-woman artist/owner of Atlantic Sea Glass Design. She is a senior level Metal Clay Instructor certified through Art Clay World, an instructor member of the Alliance for Metal Clay Arts Worldwide, and a professional member of the International Sea Glass Association. Her journey began with her love of nature and animals, collecting sea glass along the Jersey Shore where she spent her summers to handcraft silver wire-wrapped pendants to raise funds for local animal rescues. Wanting more artistic expression to design around the sea glass that inspired her, she enrolled in metal smithing classes and then discovered the Japanese art of metal clay. This seemingly magical metal made up of 99.9% pure silver can be shaped, molded, textured and sculpted while wet and, after drying, can be refined and carved by hand.
Firing allows sintering to create hard metal. Working in pure, fine silver, Jennifer seeks to capture the beauty of the ocean and coastal life in wearable art. She enjoys teaching others the art of metal clay in a fun and friendly environment that encourages creativity and artistic expression.
