Discover the beauty of traditional Japanese embroidery! The Japanese word sashiko means “little stabs,” referring to the small running stitches used to create intricate patterns. Participants will hand stitch a traditional sashiko pattern of their choice using white thread on indigo blue fabric. All materials are provided. Each participant will receive a mini sashiko kit to use in class and take home, which is included in the materials fee. No sewing experience required - all levels welcome.
Kate Eggleston is a mixed media fiber artist with over 13 years experience teaching artists of all ages and levels. She makes art, teaches, and lives in Monmouth County with her husband, their daughter, and dog June.
