BELMAR POETRY WORKSHOP
A workshop asking you to be free, to say what's on your mind, in your heart, in your imagination. Traditional forms are not what this workshop is all about, but you may choose to write in them. Emphasis is on honest, clear, courageous poetry that can be understood by any intelligent human being. This class will also show you how to best read your poems in public. And the last two sessions will focus on the writing of short, lyrical, poetical plays.
All adults and levels are invited.
Instructor is RICH QUATRONE, poet, playwright, novelist, essayist, editor, producer, director, artistic director of The American Poetry Theater, former producing director of Playwrights on the Rise at The Strand Theater. He has taught workshops on poetry and playwriting at Rutgers. His work has been published with Amiri Baraka, Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, Gregory Corso, Charles Bukowski, Joy Harjo, Tom Waits, Marge Piercy, Eliot Katz, Andy Clausen, Janet Cannon, and others. His plays have been performed at the William Carlos Williams Center, Montclair State University, Mason Gross (Rutgers), The Avignon Festival (France), The Saint (Asbury Park), Art Tank (Asbury Park), Strand Theater (Lakewood), House of Independents (Asbury Park), NJ Rep (Long Branch), in coffee houses, and on radio.
